As far as I can tell (and ya'll, I have LOOKED!) the Backyard Chickens Summit is the only online summit just for Backyard Chicken Keepers.

And, this will be our second year!

The Backyard Chickens Summit is a 3-day event that helps beginner and experienced backyard chicken keepers confidently raise a vibrantly healthy flock.

On this page, you’ll find all kinds of resources meant to make your life as a speaker as easy as possible and answer any questions you might have.

How This All Works...

Let’s do a quick rundown of how this event will work.

The 2nd Annual Backyard Chickens Summit will run from March 4-6, 2024. Presentations will include 30+ minutes of content (with up to a 5-minute freebie pitch at the end) and an informal Q and A in the Summit Facebook Group.

While the presentations themselves are pre-recorded, all speakers are asked to show up at their scheduled presentation time to chat live with attendees in the chatroll (which is super fun!)

Once your presentation is finished, we ask that you head over to the Summit Facebook page for around 10-15 minutes to answer questions. There is no video component, so attendance in pjs is recommended 😉

Along with the live presentations, there will be a Facebook group for attendees to hang out in, hold each other accountable, and ask questions. If attendees have good questions while your presentation is going on, you’ll be able to go live in the Facebook group for a bit of an encore to answer those questions, connect with the attendees, and provide even more value.

The additional Facebook live is not required, but it sure can be fun!

Leading up to the summit, we’ll have two weeks of promotion. You’ll be provided with email swipe copy, social media swipe copy, and social media graphics to make it all easy! I'll even have a suggested posting/sending schedule for you to make promo easy to outsource to a VA.

During the promotion phase, as the summit is running, and for a week after the summit is complete, we’ll also be promoting the Backyard Chicken Keepers Toolkit.

This includes an all-access pass for the replays, all worksheets for each presentation, and bonus trainings and PDFs provided by our speakers.

This will provide immense value to our attendees, while making the work of promoting and creating a presentation worthwhile by allowing you to bring in affiliate commissions. Yay!

Meet Your Conference Host...

Hi! I'm your host, Heather Levin!

I'm a homesteader, herbalist, and a Chicken Mama to 30+ chickens. I'm also the founder of Chicken Health Academy, a pioneering online academy that teaches natural and emergency care techniques to backyard chicken keepers.

As an experienced chicken-keeper, I've spent years learning how to raise healthy flocks as naturally as possible. And I'm so excited to connect with other chicken keepers in this summit, and get to work with you!

What I'll Need From You...

So this all sounds great, but what kind of work does it require of you? Let’s chat about it! My goal is to make this all as easy as humanly possible so we can all have a blast while providing great value and growing our businesses.

1. BASIC INFORMATION

The first thing I’ll need is some very basic information from you so I can finish up our registration page and this Speakers page.

Once you give me the thumbs up that you’re in, I’ll send you a link from Content Snare where you can upload all this information easily.

2. PRESENTATION SLOT SCHEDULED

The next thing I’ll need is for you to schedule your presentation slot! Click here to see the list of times that are available and to schedule yours.

During this slot, once your presentation has had time to air, you’ll also be able to jump into the Facebook group for an encore and to answer any great questions that weren’t answered in your presentation. (These Facebook lives will also be added to the Backyard Chicken Keepers Toolkit).

If you can't chat live or hop on Facebook after your presentation because you have prior engagements, please let me know! I'm sure we can work something out.

3. PRESENTATION

Next up is your presentation! This is a 30+ minute pre-recorded presentation/video that is meant to be more friendly and casual than perfect and structured. We want our attendees to learn something great, while having fun in the process.

Please structure your content in a way that allows attendees to walk away feeling like they've really learned something, rather than a webinar format where they feel like they're missing something that they need to buy from you asap.

With that being said, you have your choice of the following presentation formats:

  • Slides
  • No slides (just your gorgeous/handsome face on the screen, or hanging out with your chickens)
  • A mixture of the two
  • Interview-style

If you’d like to go with the interview style presentation, please let me know so we can schedule a time to chat and do the interview. We’ll work together to come up with questions.

No matter what format you choose, you are free to use your presentation however you’d like in the future. Many presenters go on to turn their presentation into a Masterclass that they sell, or as a webinar for lead generation. There are so many ways to reuse what you create for the summit!

Your presentation should include great, actionable content. Here’s the suggested format:

  • A quick introduction
  • An overview of your topic
  • Where people go wrong with your topic and tend to overcomplicate it
  • Teaching section
  • Specific action steps (with the goal of simplifying their existing process)
  • Up to a 5-minute freebie pitch

Presentations are due by January 29, 2024.

4. Backyard Chicken Keepers Toolkit CONTRIBUTION

The Backyard Chicken Keepers Toolkit will be a huge addition to the presentations we’re running.

To make it even more valuable and to give you an additional way to collect attendee email addresses, I ask each of you to provide one resource to add.

This includes things like:

  • Templates
  • Workbooks
  • Courses (big or small)
  • 1-month memberships
  • eBooks

Note: I expect this to convert well so I do not recommend contributing any 1:1 offers.

It’s totally up to you to decide whether you’d like to create something new or provide something you already have. While this isn’t required, it’s highly encouraged that you participate.

Anyone who does contribute a premium resource (aka not something you're giving away for free somewhere else) will get a 50% affiliate commission on sales, rather than 40%. It’s also an opportunity to collect hundreds of extra email addresses as attendees claim your offer.

Information for these resources is due on January 29, 2024.

You'll receive a questionnaire to fill out closer to that time to make passing the information to me nice and simple.

5. PROMOTION

The power of an online summit comes from a group of experts coming together for a single cause. The joint promotion that happens because of that is a huge benefit to everyone involved.

Because of that, everyone is encouraged to share on social media and to email their lists during the promotion period, starting on February 19, 2024.

You’ll want to share using your affiliate link (which you can set up here and here) so you can get in on the 40% commission that will come from any Backyard Chicken Keepers Toolkit sales (50% if you've contributed a premium bonus).

There are two affiliate sign ups, but 3 pricing structures to the Toolkit.

But...all you REALLY need to use is the registration link that you'll find in your affiliate account. As long as you use your specific registration link, anyone you send to the summit who signs up for their free ticket will be tracked with a 60-day cookie. If they purchase the Toolkit right after they sign up, or two weeks down the road, you'll get credit for the sale.

6. LIVE PARTICIPATION

And last comes participation during the week of the event. Since we’ll already have done the work of creating the presentations and extra resources, we’ll be able to sit back and relax for the most part!

All I ask is that you show up live to your presentation to chat with attendees in the chat roll. This is so much fun...and there's no video. It's just you answering questions as they come in!

I'd also love for you to interact in the Facebook group after your presentation to answer questions and engage with the people who attended your presentation. Again, if you can't make it due to prior obligations please let me know and we'll work something out!

While you are not required to attend the events of other speakers, it’s highly encouraged! We’ll be able to get some great discussions going about the topics being presented. And it's great to support and learn from each other!
